Miguel Gallo, the vice president of TecnoMarmol, a marble company, shared how the passion and care that has gone into fabricating and creating exquisite marble has been passed on from generation to generation.

It began with Miguel’s grandfather, who left Southern Italy for Cuba in the 1920s, to work as a stone mason in Havana to eventually build a marble business in Cuba.

In 1961, his grandfather left Cuba and established a marble business in Miami, working together with Miguel’s uncle and father. By 1967, the entire family relocated to Puerto Rico, which was experiencing a construction boom, and established a marble company there. It has been family run ever since.

Today, the knowledge of working with these materials has been effectively combined with modern technology to face the most demanding challenges in the industry. The company imports slabs of marble, granite, and a variety of other natural stones and fabricates them into premium finished surfaces, for use in kitchens, bathrooms, tables, floors, memorial cemetery products, stairs, and walls. They offer complete manufacturing services that include cutting custom plates, providing surface finishes, edge profiling, and more.

Seeking the Best Materials

Miguel and his sister have traveled with their family to Verona, Italy, various times throughout the years to buy the best materials for their business and to attend world-class industry stone fairs to learn about the latest in tools, technology, and craft. Miguel, who has been with the company for 36 years, was very familiar and knowledgeable with the high quality of natural stones from Italy.

In the last 6-7 years, TecnoMarmol has enhanced its product line to include quartz, porcelain, terrazzo, and other materials. The company offers finished products, like tiles that they sell and install. Some specialized products are even crafted by hand.

Puerto Rico is a small island, and thanks to the efforts of Miguel and his team, his customers can enjoy the benefits of fine Italian stones expertly crafted with precision and care. TecnoMarmol is part of Empresas Gallo, a well-established Puerto Rican company in the marble, granite, and natural stone industry.
